The right wagon at the right place

In its Wagon Hire division, the VTG Group markets its fleet of around 50,000 wagons worldwide comprising round about 1,000 different wagon types, mainly rail tank cars and state-of-the-art high capacity rail freight cars as well as wagons. Our fleet is constantly being enlarged, modernized and diversified to offer customers tailor-made transport solutions for different applications. A wagon must not only be suitable for the freight in question but must also be useable in different countries and therefore be compatible with the rail system it has to run on. VTG provides wagons for these different requirements, has the necessary knowledge of international regulations as well as the respective compliance capability, and is therefore also able to provide customers with reliable services over ever-increasing distances and cross-border transports. At the end of the day we aim to provide every customer with the right number of appropriate wagons in the right location for the best possible price-performance ratio. We have a network in place to offer dedicated, individual consultancy and local help. VTG offers direct support across Europe at its sales and service centers. In the Wagon Hire division, we are already number 1 among private wagon hire companies in Europe.

Apart from hiring rail freight cars – our core business – we also offer you the management and technical servicing as well as the administration and maintenance of external wagon fleets. We also provide the services of the three wagon repair workshops in Germany and France as well as a wagon manufacturing plant in Germany. Those provide an impetus for innovation and feed into the company’s base of technical expertise.
