Professional Career
Decades of management expertise in working with freight wagons
Thomas Jäger, born in Rostock in 1971, completed his high school diploma with vocational training as a deckhand in merchant shipping. He then studied mechanical engineering at the University of Rostock and graduated with a degree in engineering.
On January 1, 2000, he began his professional career at DB Cargo AG as a trainee. In the following years, he held various management positions in rail logistics, including Senior Vice President Asset Management and Chief Technical Officer (CTO) at DB Cargo.
On January 1, 2024, Thomas Jäger joined VTG GmbH as Chief Operating Officer (COO). Since September 2025, he holds overall responsibility for the VTG workshops as CEO Production.
