According to data from the German Environment Agency, rail is one of the lowest-emission modes of freight transport. With its Europe-wide rail freight wagon fleet, workshops, and logistics expertise, VTG supports the shift of transport to rail and helps customers reduce transport-related emissions.

Sustainability is firmly embedded in VTG’s business model. Through our rail freight wagons, workshops, and logistics solutions, we actively contribute to climate-friendly mobility, responsible resource use, and safe, future-ready working and living environments.
OUR CLIMATE TARGETS AND PROGRESS
We pursue concrete climate targets and measure our progress in line with internationally recognized standards. Our focus is on reducing our direct emissions (Scope 1) and energy-related emissions (Scope 2). By 2030, we aim to reduce our combined Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by at least 50% compared with the base year. By 2040, we aim to achieve climate neutrality.
