Marie’s Career Journey at VTG

Marie has been with VTG for more than ten years, progressing from an apprenticeship to a leadership role. A conversation about trust, customer focus, and why the job is still as exciting as ever after 12 years.

From apprenticeship to a leadership role

Marie knew from her very first interview that VTG was the right fit for her. The atmosphere within the company and the career prospects presented to her during the recruitment process immediately convinced her. On August 1, 2014, she started her apprenticeship as an industrial management assistant at VTG and successfully completed it in January 2017.

Even before officially completing her apprenticeship, Marie applied for an open position in Internal Sales, her favorite department during her training. She began onboarding in August 2016, six months before her apprenticeship officially ended. What she particularly appreciated about Internal Sales was its role as an interface between many departments and its clear focus on customers.

Alongside starting her career, she completed a part-time bachelor's degree in Business Psychology at FOM through evening studies.

I have been able to continuously develop over the past 12 years while pursuing my passion for leadership, change, and customer focus.

Since joining VTG, Marie has held several positions: from Internal Sales to Team Leader Customer Operations Management with functional responsibility for Internal Sales in the Nordic cluster, then Business Development Manager for the Liquids asset segment and Tools and Processes Manager Commercial, before moving into her current role as Head of Internal Sales.

This career path was made possible through proactive involvement in projects from the very beginning and direct opportunities offered to her, such as being one of the first apprentices to spend two months in Birmingham. The European experience broadened her perspective, and ultimately it was VTG’s trust in her performance that opened up new opportunities.

Even today, Marie continues to benefit from her apprenticeship. Anyone who works through all departments at VTG gains a deep understanding of the company, its core processes, and how everything connects. In particular, the network of colleagues she built during that time, and the sense of commitment that came with it, continues to support her in her work today.

VTG is no longer the same company it was 12 years ago, but that is exactly why it continues to grow and evolve.

Despite her long tenure, Marie never finds her work boring. The company continues to develop, new challenges and opportunities emerge all the time, and with them come new chances for personal and professional growth.
