Welcome to the main workshopin Wesseling! Our side, which has been in operation since 1908, covers an impressive area of 130,000 m² with 14 km of railway tracks.
In addition to stationary wagon maintenance, cleaning of tank wagons and the reconditioning of wheelsets, our range of services also includes mobile services. Our teams are specialised in carrying out maintenance work with the highest precision and efficiency.

Our service location in Großräschen, in the industrial park 'Sonne' in Freienhufen, is a key element in implementing VTG's sustainability strategy.
This service location focuses on intermodal wagons, covering everything from the repair of typical damage to extensive overhauls. In addition, specialised services such as tank wagon inspections can be offered.
A special feature of the location is our commitment to the climate-efficient rail freight transport of the future. The plant is operated CO2-neutrally and uses heat pump heating and its own photovoltaic system to generate electricity. This is complemented by the exclusive use of green electricity. Even the shunting of wagons in the workshop area is climate-friendly, with an electric shunting device.
Our investments in a sustainable and climate-friendly transport system are making an important contribution to the development of green rail freight transport in Europe. This protects the climate and promotes structural change in the region.
Our workshop unit in Skye near Bremen, which is designed for precise maintenance and repair work on all types of construction, offers us an ideal infrastructure for the comprehensive maintenance and servicing of your wagons. From here, too, our mobile team ensures fast and flexible on-site operations to get your wagons back on the road as quickly as possible.
The service location is also available as a Hot-Stand-By. This area has been specially designed for the short-term provision of wagons up to block trains.
Our service base in the Port of Hamburg is an important part of efficient depot and port operations. Here, our mobile employees ensure that maintenance and servicing tasks are reliably carried out.

Our service base in Ahaus-Alstätte is the hub for specialised printing and plotting work. This is the head office of Wagon & Warehousing Service GmbH, a subsidiary of Waggonwerk Brühl GmbH.

By using high-quality materials, we guarantee excellent resistance to light, weather and extreme temperatures.
