More flexibility for container transports: VTG FastTrack now also available in the port of Gothenburg

- Set of twenty 80-foot container wagons (80 TEU) available at the port of Gothenburg for short-term use

- Online bookings via VTG’s traigo platform possible 24/7

Ad-hoc rail freight services now also in Sweden: Having already established its FastTrack service at other key locations, VTG is now offering the same service at the port of Gothenburg. A block train comprising twenty 80-foot container cars and with a loading capacity of 80 TEU – but excluding traction – is stationed at the port of Gothenburg and can be booked online around the clock. About half of all container transports to and from Gothenburg are already handled by rail. Thanks to VTG FastTrack, there is now also an excellent solution to accommodate ad-hoc transports and/or order peaks. Since these are usually handled primarily by road, VTG FastTrack constitutes a climate-friendly alternative. "We are very pleased that this project has enabled us to add another attractive location for our premium FastTrack service, and also to extend our long-standing cooperation with the port of Gothenburg," says Sven Wellbrock, Chief Operating Officer Europe and Chief Safety Officer of VTG AG. "FastTrack can play a valuable part in the port’s connectivity, while also making rail more competitive with other modes of transport." Maintenance provider SweMaint is also involved in the partnership and has set up dedicated in-port capacity to take care of wagon maintenance.

Bookings via traigo – the digital interface for modern rail freight transport

VTG FastTrack’s outstanding USP is that the service is available at all times. This makes it especially interesting for operators who have the necessary expertise and access to the rail network and can therefore organize transports. Once registered, customers can book a set on a 24/7/365 basis (subject to availability) via the digital traigo interface. Unveiled by VTG at the start of 2020, traigo is the innovative booking and analysis platform for digital products covering all aspects of rail freight traffic. The service can be accessed via
